  • What is ADHD Coaching?
ADHD coaching is an ongoing collaborative partnership between a person with ADHD traits, including persons impacted by ADHD, and a professional coach who brings current ADHD knowledge, best practices, understanding, and ADHD-friendly skills and tools to facilitate positive personal and professional change for the client. The ADHD coaching partnership is an appreciative and creative inquiry process that empowers clients to learn about themselves and their unique brain processing so they can make choices and take actions to create the lives they choose to live. The ADHD coach listens with an appreciation and working experience of how ADHD may be impacting the client. ADHD coaches create a safe, non-judgmental environment, listen with an ADHD understanding, observe what is preventing the client from reaching specific goals, explore ways in which the client can maximize strengths, talents, and passion, and enlist strategies and behaviors congruent with the ADHD client’s learning, processing, and organization styles. ADHD coaches regard their clients as naturally creative, resourceful, and incredible human beings. PAAC Definition of ADHD Coaching - https://paaccoaches.org/

  • What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
While both coaching and therapy involve working with a trained individual to improve your life, there are some key differences between the two. Therapy typically focuses on healing past wounds, managing mental health conditions, and improving emotional well-being. Coaching, on the other hand, is more future-focused and designed to help you achieve specific goals and make positive changes in your life. As an ADHD Coaching, ADHD TechieMama will work with you to identify your strengths to help set achievable goals, and develop a personalized plan to help you reach your full potential. Coaching is a collaborative process that empowers you to take control of your life and make the changes you want to see. Additionally, therapy can help a person answer the "why" questions about the past where a coach can help discover the "who," "what," and "how" questions (i.e. Who do you aspire to be? What are you ready to do to experience more love in your life? How can you immediately improve your situation?).
  • What is the difference between Life Coaching and ADHD Coaching?
While Life Coaching is similar to ADHD Coaching, the key difference is an understanding and compassion of what it means to be ADHD - diagnosis or not. ADHD coaching is a specialty skill set that empowers clients to manage their attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Anyone can learn and use coaching skills, but as ADHD coaches, we work alongside our clients and help them (re)discover their own (sometimes hidden) strengths so that they can be empowered to be accountable and responsible for the decisions and outcomes they are seeking.
  • What is your coaching philosophy?
I truly believe that everyone is doing their best. Many times in our lives, we are told that we are weird, broken, too this, or too that - or not enough of this or that. It takes a conversation, built on trust, but also with an open participant ready to listen to us to begin to uncover the hidden gems inside each of us. As one of my peers recently stated, we can feel like we are living our life, "a day late and a dollar short." Or like I was, living in a constant state of chaos and disarray. Feeling like I was late to everything and could never get my stuff together. My coaching will reflect that I believe in you and all that you are capable of. You do not need to be fixed and you are not your past mistakes. I can help cheer you on and believe for you, even before you believe it for yourself! The answers are inside of you and I will help uncover them, one conversation at a time.
  • What are some outcomes I can expect from coaching?
Most coaching clients realize several, if not most of the following outcomes: Increased self-understanding and awareness Greater appreciation and application of personal strengths Clarity around values and goals Improved self-management and personal effectiveness Focused, purpose-driven actions Well-developed and expanded support network Better recognition of choices and opportunities Solution-focused mindset Greater flexibility and adaptability to change Improved communication skills Clear understanding of how permanent change occurs Greater creativity Increased confidence built upon accomplishments More compassion and celebration Overall improvement in well-being and happiness *Adapted from the ADD Coaching Academy ADHD & Life Coach Training Program
